Rhinoplasty, commonly known as a «nose job,» is a surgical procedure that involves reshaping or reconstructing the nose. It can be performed for both aesthetic and functional reasons, such as correcting nasal deformities, improving nasal symmetry, or enhancing the overall appearance of the nose.

Common reasons for getting rhinoplasty include:

The underlying bone, cartilage, and tissue are then reshaped to achieve the desired result. The incisions are then closed, and the nose is typically splinted to support the new shape during healing.

The recovery period after rhinoplasty can vary from patient to patient. Swelling, bruising, and some discomfort are common in the first week or two. Nasal congestion and breathing difficulties may also be experienced during the initial healing phase. Most of the swelling and bruising subside within a few weeks, but it can take several months for the final results to become fully visible.

As with any surgical procedure, there are risks and potential complications associated with rhinoplasty. These can include infection, bleeding, adverse reactions to anesthesia, scarring, asymmetry, persistent swelling, changes in sensation, and dissatisfaction with the results.
